Through the past 3 years the VKS team have had the opportunity to meet a host of good people coming through Vanuatu who we have had kava with. Some have gone on to order kava online from us and keep in regular contact with us. This page is dedicated to them and their story about Vanuatu and their kava experience.
Rob & Emily
Emily and I were first introduced to kava on our second cruise to the South Pacific in 2009 when we tasted this bizarre muddy looking concoction that made our mouths go slightly numb after five minutes! Curious about this ancient drink I started to research it on the Internet and soon discovered that it was perfectly safe and non-addictive and that it both helped people to relax and to sleep well at night.
Thankfully, I have since found these claims to be true and really do appreciate a good night's sleep that results from having a couple of shells. It is a vastly better drink than alcohol as it brings about a relaxed state of mind and not the aggression that so often passes for drinking in our culture and it does not have any side effects the next day as there is no hangover effect. In fact, I wake up in the morning with a clear head and feeling energetic and, most of all, well and truly ready to deal with whatever that day has to throw at me.

We have both since become real fans of Kava and of the people of Vanuatu! Emily especially likes the Kava Colada from Nambawan Cafe in Vila.
Interestingly, more recent studies suggest its consumption may be linked to lower incidences of cancer among the populations of the south pacific islands.
