The Kava Cola Story
Over the past 18 months the VKS team have been hard at work developing a kava extract that will blend easily with existing popular beverages.
Kava infused beverages have been tried before, both here in Vanuatu and overseas to a limited degree of success. The lack of success was primarily due to the use of a dried micronised kava powder being used thus leaving a strong kava taste and resulting in a limited shelf life and a below average tasting product.
VKS set out on the mission to produce an extract that will blend with popular soft drinks as well as flavoured milk, with a further mandate to have an extract that was strong in good lactone content, was easily infused into existing beverage product lines and most importantly MINIMISE THE KAVA TASTE that deters a lot of first time kava users.
After a lot of R+D, VKS are proud to announce that they have cracked the formula. Trial runs of a kava cola product were completed in August with local beverage manufacturer Vanuatu Beverage. After a number of domestic and international market surveys, it was decided to go ahead with the manufacturing of "Lava Cola - Vanuatu Kava Cola". The Kava Cola story has been picked up by the local media who ran a story on the launch of "Lava Cola - Vanuatu Kava Cola". As the local media mention, the extract and its use in kava-cola is a potential boon for the Vanuatu economy, due to the increased demand for kava that it will generate and the fact that the the value adding is done right here in Vanuatu, something Vanuatu Kava Store has always strived to achieve with all their products.
